Originally scheduled for March 22, Bloomfield College has announced that Gayle King is now scheduled to speak on campus on Wednesday, March 29 at 3:00 p.m in the Van Fossan Theatre.

Seating is first come, first serve, and limited. If you have already registered for this event and can still make it, you do not need to register again. If you can no longer attend due to the change of date, please email vincent_fay@bloomfield.edu. If you have yet to register, the College asks that you kindly fill out this form or call the Office of Institutional Advancement at 973-748-9000 x 1293.

“Having Gayle King, a successful, award-winning, African American woman, on our campus is truly an honor. We cannot wait to welcome her to campus and hear what she has to say to our students,” said Jackie Bartley, Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Bloomfield College. “This amazing opportunity for our students would not have been possible without the help of our dedicated Board of Trustee member, Jim Axelrod, a CBS colleague of Ms. King. The campus has been buzzing with excitement ever since we announced this event.”

King, a graduate of the University of Maryland, will speak directly to students, faculty, staff, and notable members of the Bloomfield College community. The highly anticipated event will offer students a special opportunity to ask the television personality and established journalist questions following her speech.

According to CBS News, King has been co-host of "CBS This Morning" since 2011 and is also Editor-at-Large of the award-winning O, the Oprah Magazine.

King, a close friend of Oprah Winfrey, has handled a number of high-profile assignments, including reporting from Newtown, Connecticut in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012. She was honored with an Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia Award as part of CBS News' division-wide coverage of the Newtown tragedy. King contributed to CBS News' Election Night coverage in 2014 and co-anchored CBS News' special coverage of several breaking news stories, including the Paris terrorist attacks, the San Bernardino shootings, and the Supreme Court's landmark decision to legalize same-sex marriage.

King previously hosted "The Gayle King Show" on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. Before moving into print and radio, King worked for 18 years as a television news anchor for CBS affiliate WFSB-TV in Connecticut where she hosted her own syndicated daytime program. Prior to joining WFSB, King worked at several other television stations, including WDAF-TV in Kansas City, Mo., WJZ-TV in Baltimore, Md., and WTOP-TV in Washington, D.C.

King has received numerous awards for her extensive work as a journalist. In addition to three Emmys, she was honored with the American Women in Radio & Television Gracie Award for Outstanding Radio Talk Show, the Individual Achievement Award for Host-Entertainment/Information, and the New York Women in Communications' Matrix Award recipient.

This marks King’s first visit to Bloomfield College.
